Binding tool

The present invention configures a binding tool (0) equipped with: a set of binding rod members (1, 2) that can pivot relative to each other via a hinge around the center axis thereof and that that open/close binding rods through the pivoting operation; and an operation member (3) that covers the shafts (13, 23) of the hinge, is able to slide along the direction of the center axis with respect to the binding rod members (1, 2), has a stopper that prohibits the binding rod members (1, 2) from pivoting in the direction that opens the binding rods, and can selectively assume a locked position, wherein the stopper contacts predetermined sections of the binding rod members (1, 2), and an unlocked position, wherein the stopper does not contact the predetermined sections even if the binding rod members (1, 2) are pivoted. As a result, the shafts (13, 23) of the hinge no longer impart a bumpy feel to a user.
