Binding tool

The present invention configures a binding tool (0) equipped with: a set of binding rod members (1, 2) that cause binding rods to open and close through a relatively pivoting operation; an operation member (3) that displaces between a locked position that prohibits the binding rod members (1, 2) from pivoting in the direction that opens the binding rods and an unlocked position that allows same; and an operating force conversion mechanism (35) that is interposed between the binding rod members (1, 2) and the operation member (3) and that converts the operating force that displaces the operation member (3) from the locked position towards the unlocked position to force that pivots the binding rod members (1, 2) in the direction of opening the binding rods. As a result, it is possible to favorably maintain the closed state of the binding rods by placing the operation member (3) at the locked position, and it is also possible for the binding rod members (1, 2) to themselves pivot and open operating rods in the p
