Zusammenfassung:	The invention discloses a method for starting a multimedia device and the multimedia device. The multimedia device comprises a storage medium. The method comprises the steps as follows: after turning on a power supply of the multimedia device, performing a starting program to initialize a plurality of primary parts in the multimedia device; reading snapshot information from the storage medium, wherein the snapshot information comprises state information of an operating system and a plurality of application programs of the multimedia device; and loading the snapshot information to the multimedia device for running the operating system and the application programs. Therefore, the steps of starting the multimedia device can be reduced and the time of starting the multimedia device can be effectively shortened.
