The domestic appliance W is equipped with a liquid pump 1, wherein the liquid pump 1 has a pre-chamber 2 and a main chamber 3, wherein the pre-chamber 2 has a filling opening 4 for filling liquid K; the pre-chamber 2 and the main chamber 3 are connected to one another via a passage opening 5 which lies at a lower point than the filling opening 4; the main chamber 3 has an outlet opening for discharging the liquid K and a pressure opening 8 which is connected to an air pump 7; a valve element 9 is arranged in or with the main chamber 3, which valve element 9 is controlled by the filling level and is set up and arranged to close the passage opening 5 when a maximum filling level hmax is reached in the main chamber 3; wherein at least one filling-level sensor 10 is arranged on or in the pre-chamber 2, by means of which filling-level sensor 10 the reaching of an activation level (ha) in the pre-chamber 2 can be sensed; and wherein the liquid pump 1 is set up to activate the air pump 7 for a defined time period when the activation level ha is reached.
