The invention discloses a method and a system for learning a remote controller. Firstly, the remote controller transmits different types of remote control data to a server; the remote controller of a user is connected with the remote controllers of the other users to obtain device mark information of the remote controllers of the other users; the remote controller of the user is connected with the server; corresponding remote control data are downloaded from the server according to device mark information of the remote controllers of the other users; the remote controller of the user stores the remote control data, and the remote controller of the user selects the remote control data according to the required remote control device. By adopting the technical scheme, the new remote control data can be learnt, so that one remote controller can operate a plurality of devices; the quantity of family remote controllers is reduced, and the cost is also reduced.
