Improvent for performance of multiprocessor computer system

An embodiment of the present invention can improve the performance of a multiprocessor system for processing information received through a network. For example, some embodiments can allow to configure the system, so that the information received through the network can be assigned in the multiple processors to perform high-efficiency processing. A user (such as a system administrator) can perform selection in a plurality of configuration options, wherein the each configuration option is related to a specific mode for processing the information received through the network. By selecting the configuration option, the user can designate how to process the information received through the network, so as to utilize characteristics of the system, for example, by combining the each processor on the system with a specific NIC, the (plurality of) processors combined with the NIC can perform tasks which are associated to the information received by the NIC and are related to networking. If the one or more processors a
