Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to an apparatus (20) for irradiating patients with x-ray radiation. The apparatus includes a lowerable patient support (11) and an x-ray apparatus (3) that may be positioned below the lowerable patient support (11). The apparatus (20) is configured such that part of the x-ray apparatus (3) is moved into the lowerable patient support (11) when the patient support (11) is lowered. The lowerable patient support (11) may be lowered further, thereby facilitating access for the patient.
