Zusammenfassung:	The invention provides an engine for bestriding-type vehicles. A cylinder cover of an engine body disposed on a frame is connected with an exhaust device provided with an exhaust silencer at a downstream end, and the cross section of at least one part of a housing of the exhaust silencer is polygonal in shape. The engine for the bestriding-type vehicles enables the exhaust silencer to be formed into any polygonal shape with low cost. The housing (49) comprises a round cylinder (50) with a round cross section and a polygonal cylinder (51) disposed at the rearmost part of the housing (49), with the cross section of at least one part being polygonal in shape.
