Systems, methods, and apparatus for preventing electromigration between plasma gun electrodes

System, method, and apparatus for use in preventing electromigration of energy between plasma gun electrodes are described herein. A circuit protection device (100) includes a plasma gun (412) configured to generate a plasma plume, at least one capacitor (210, 212) configured to store electrical energy, and a trigger circuit (304) communicatively coupled to the plasma gun (412) and the capacitor (210, 212). The trigger circuit (304) is configured to transmit a first signal to the capacitor (210, 212) to cause the capacitor (210, 212) to transmit a first portion of the electrical energy to the plasma gun (412). The trigger circuit (304) is also configured to transmit a second signal to the plasma gun (412) to cause the plasma gun (412) to generate the plasma plume using the first portion of the electrical energy.
