The method comprises the following steps of: performing disproportionated reaction of glyoxal serving as a raw material under the action of potassium hydroxide and a phase transfer catalyst to synthesize hydroxyl potassium acetate, and acidizing to obtain the glycollic acid. The method has the advantages that: the purity of the product can be improved to be over 98 percent, and the discharge of wastes is avoided; and the glyoxal is non-toxic and non-corrosive, so the method is a safe and clean synthetic process. |
