Also disclosed is a system for displaying the external appearance of medical instruments. The device for displaying the external appearance of medical instruments (50) comprises an external appearance information storage unit (59) that is connected to the medical instrument (10) in a manner enabling communication and has external appearance information for the medical instrument, a display unit (51) that displays the external appearance information, a selection unit (60) that enables the selection of a section of the external appearance information displayed by the display unit, and a transmission unit (54); that transmits the section information of the selected section to the medical instrument so that the medical instrument can operate the section of the medical instrument corresponding to the section of the external appearance information.
