The invention relates to an aerator, in particular to a volute hydraulic rotational plug flow aerator, which is suitable for an efficient novel aerator for landscape water bodies, aquaculture and sewage treatment. The volute hydraulic rotational plug flow aerator comprises a motor and a volute, wherein the motor is fixed at the lowermost position of the aerator, and is connected with an impeller through a revolving shaft; the impeller extends towards the volute; the volute is supported by using a support device; the support device is embedded into a fixing device through a rolling shaft; a grating is arranged between the motor and the rolling shaft; and a water-gas mixing chamber is formed by a space encircled by the volute, the support device, the fixing device, the motor and the grating, and is communicated with atmospheric air through a gas suction pipe.
