The invention relates to an engagement relay for a starter device, comprising a housing part (40), which is preferably magnetically conductive, said housing part (40) having a flanged edge (52), and comprising a switch cover (12), which has a flange bead (41), the flange bead (41) being encompassed by the flanged edge (52) in a form-fit, characterized in that the switch cover (12) is composed of a thermoplastic plastic. The invention further relates to a method for producing an engagement relay (10), a switch cover (12) being inserted into a housing part (40) in a method step, then a flanged edge (52) of the housing part (40) being deformed so that said flanged edge (52) encompasses a flange bead (41) of the switch cover (12) and thus produces a form-fit connection (60) between the switch cover (12) and the housing part (40), characterized in that an inner side of the flanged edge (52) is provided with a contour (55) enabling a form-fit before the switch cover (12) is inserted.
