The embodiment of the invention provides a control method and device of a home gateway. The method comprises the steps as follows: a central processing unit (CPU) acquires state configuration information and existing state information of service function modules in accordance with a received query-interrupting instruction; and the CPU updates the progresses of the service function modules in accordance with the state configuration information and existing state information of the service function modules. In the embodiment of the invention, the CPU can close the service function modules which are not used temporarily or start the service function modules which are required to use, thus reasonably using CPU resources to maintain the service function modules; in addition, the CPU resources can be saved effectively, thus improving the processing performance of the CPU.
