The automated periodic surveillance testing unites a passive testing means with an active testing means, wherein the passive testing means unites a hardware self-diagnosis with an on-line state comparison function to be continuously executed when the digital reactor protection system runs, the active testing means is a test executed by an external testing apparatus, which belongs to an automatic logic test and the like.
