Zusammenfassung: | The invention relates to a method for producing for example a cylindrical surface (fig 10) which has a suitable surface structure of a predetermined geometry for applying material by thermal spraying. According to said method, a geometrically defined groove structure (fig 10) of minor depth and width is introduced into the surface, for example cylindrical surface, of a substrate to be coated, which surface is premachined to size using a tool which is preferably a follow-on tool (12; fig 1), by gradually bringing a groove cross-section to a desired measure. In order for the surface to be producible in series with a constant quality, the groove structure is introduced by first machining a basic groove (52B; fig 10) having a groove root width which is smaller than the groove root width of the finished groove (52). The groove, for example at least one flank (52-1 & 52-2) of the basic groove, is then machined in a non-cutting or cutting manner to produce an undercut groove profile, the groove structure produced by |
