The ball is attached to a valve seat (22) and inserted into a ball cage. The ball is made of a ceramic material e.g. silicon nitride, silicon carbide or alumina, and connected with the valve seat, where the valve seat exhibits a valve seat radius that is 0.1-times greater than a diameter of the ball, and exhibits a contact diameter that is 0.6-times greater than the diameter of the ball.
