The chemical formula of the cobaltous magnesium silicate is MgxCoySiO4, wherein x is more than or equal to 0.5 and less than or equal to 1.1; y is more than or equal to 0.5 and less than or equal to 1.05; and x+y is equal to 2. The cobaltous magnesium silicate serves as an anode; metal magnesium serves as a cathode; and the anode and the cathode form a rechargeable magnesium battery. The voltage of the discharge voltage platform of the battery can reach 1.7V.
