The invention discloses a fertilizer for prolonging the green period of lawn grass and a preparation method thereof. The fertilizer comprises the following components in part by weight: 85 to 90 parts of solution of nitrogen-containing compound, 9 to 14 parts of solution of iron-containing compound or solution of iron-containing chelate, 0.001 to 0.5 part of solution of vitamin C and 0.01 to 0.5 part of solution of salicylic acid.
