The invention relates to a method for treating waste water, in particular to a method for treating waste water obtained during circuit board production. The method mainly comprises the following process steps of: separately collecting waste water of each process; performing acidulation to remove organic substances from the waste water; regulating the pH value of the waste water to be between 2 and 4 and performing an aeration micro-electrolysis reaction for electrolyzing the organic substances and displacing metallic irons in the waste water; adding alkali and a flocculating agent into the electrolyzed waste water; filtering metal and the organic substances in forms of precipitate and flocculate; regulating the pH value of the filtered waste water to be between 6 and 9 for performing biochemical treatment to decompose residual contaminants; and performing sludge-water separation on the waste water after the biochemical treatment so that clear solution can meet the standard and be discharged.
