Zusammenfassung:	Disclosed is a gas barrier material containing cellulose fibers having an average fiber diameter of not more than 200 nm. The cellulose constituting the cellulose fibers has a carboxyl group content of 0.1-2 mmol/g. By coating a base with the gas barrier material and drying the coated base, there can be obtained a gas barrier composite body having high oxygen barrier properties and the like.
