The invention discloses a memory storage device and a control method thereof, which are suitable for writing updating data to the memory storage device on a host computer. The memory storage device is provided with a storage unit, a popular data list f and a source pointer register, wherein the storage unit comprises a plurality of storage spaces of physical blocks corresponding to a logic block of a file system; the popular data list is used for recording an address of a special logic block, and the special logic block stores the popular data; and the address stored in the source pointer register points to one of the plurality of logic blocks.
