The invention discloses a method for monitoring synthesis of silica gel microballoons by utilizing size-exclusion chromatography, comprising the following steps of: measuring the molecular weights of mixture raw materials of a silica solution, tetraethoxysilane and prepolymerized tetraethoxysilane and intermediate product of poly-tetraethoxysilane, a silica solution and gel, which are used for synthesizing the silica gel microballoons, by adopting a gel chromatographic system; monitoring the synthesizing reaction condition of the silica gel microballoons according to the determined molecular weight information and adjusting the proportions of reactors as required so as to effectively monitor the synthesizing progress and batch reproducibility of the silica gel microballoons. The method has the advantages of accuracy, visualization, rapidity, less sampling quantity and the like.
