Set-top box and method for program browsing

The invention relates to a set-top box, comprising a memory, a first tuner, a second tuner and a decoder. The first tuner is used for playing the current program under a program viewing mode, and forextracting the key frames of programs of afterwards channels to the memory under a rapid browsing mode. The second tuner is used for extracting key frames of user favorable programs under the programviewing mode, and storing the same to the memory, locking the current channel under the rapid browsing mode, and extracting the key frames of the program of the current channel to be stored in the memory. The decoder is used for decoding the current program into images and sound under the viewing mode, and decoding the key frames of the program in the memory into images under the rapid browsing mode. The invention further provides a method for program browsing. The set-top box and the method for program browsing is capable of implementing rapid browsing of programs for favorable program selection by user.
