Polarizing plate and method for producing the same

The present invention is to provide a polarizing plate having a retardation function while having excellent environmental resistance. The invention is concerned with a polarizing plate including a polarizer having, on at least one surface thereof, a protective film having a function as a retardation film via an adhesive layer, wherein the adhesive layer is formed of an adhesive containing a polyurethane; and the protective film is composed of a polycarbonate based resin or an amorphous polyolefin resin having a glass transition temperature in the range of from 100 DEG C to 180 DEG C, which is a copolymer containing an ethylene unit represented by the following formula (E) and a cyclic olefin unit represented by the following formula (F).
