The embodiment of the invention provides a link failure processing method and a data transmitting device, wherein the method comprises detecting that a link goes wrong, starting a timer, sending out failure detecting conversation dropping notice, receiving a detecting message by the timer before time over, keeping the neighbor relationship with a neighbor route device connected through a link, generating route information, and sending out the route information. The invention simultaneously provides a data transmitting device for implementing the method. The embodiment of the invention can shorten the convergence time length of an upper-layer application module, improves the convergence property, and saves CPU resource of the data transmitting device, and improves the working property thereof.
