Taxi wireless video monitoring system and method based on GPS

The invention discloses a GPS-based wireless video monitoring system for a taxi and a monitoring method which are used for recognizing various illegal taxis, in particular to fake-license taxis. The monitoring system comprises a video information acquisition site, a wireless transmission system, a monitoring center and a GPS receiver. The monitoring method comprises the following steps: an existing vehicle recognition system is combined with GPS; a license plate at the acquisition site is compared with information in a database; if the comparison result matches, position information of two taxis with the same license plate is compared with each other by a message sent by a satellite; and if the comparison result is different, the taxi at the acquisition site is proved to be the fake-license taxi, and if the comparison result is the same, the taxi is proved to be a legal taxi, so that the fake-license taxi is accurately recognized.
