Zusammenfassung:In producing a carbon composite base (11) comprising a carbon base (14) and, formed on a surface thereof, an iron layer (15) to which a metallic material can be bonded, the peel strength between the carbon base (14) and the iron layer (15) is heightened. A carbon composite base (11) is formed by adhering an iron powder to a surface of a carbon base (14) formed beforehand by sintering and then sintering the adherent iron powder at a temperature which is not lower than the diffusion temperature of the carbon and is not higher than the melting point of the iron. The iron powder to be used is onewhich has been treated so as to have a larger amount of oxygen adsorbed on the surface thereof by subjecting it to immersion in water or heat treatment. Thus, peel strength is heightened.
