The inventive embodiment discloses a method for detecting network cover, including: collecting the measurement report reported in an appointed period by terminals in a detection range; recording the signal intensity in the measurement report and the range information between the terminal and base station; analyzing the recorded signal intensity and range information, and testing the network coverage in the detection range. The inventive embodiment discloses an apparatus for detecting network cover. The application of the invention realizes the automatic detection of network coverage and automatic generation of the corresponding optimization program, reduces the interference of anthropogenic factors in the network optimizing and detecting process, saves manpower and equipment investment costs, shortens the testing and optimization cycle, and realize the automation of network coverage detection and optimization.
