The invention concerns a reel furnace with a strip reeling device. The strip reeling device (4) comprises a reeling shaft (6), a reeling drum (11), which is supported on the reeling shaft, and at least one bow clamp (14). The reeling shaft passes through a furnace wall (2a, 2b), which delimits the inside space (5) of the reel furnace and which is rotationally supported outside the reel furnace insupporting bearings (8, 9). The reeling drum and the at least one bow clamp are positioned together by a connecting element (16), and a gap (15) for accommodating a strip head is placed between the reeling drum and the at least one bow clamp. The serviceable life of the reel drum is considerably prolonged and a strip thickness-dependent setting of the feed gap for the hot-rolled strip is ensured when the reeling drum (11) is provided in the form of a closed body and the connecting element (16) is provided in the form of a setting device (17) for establishing a specific gap width between the reeling drum and bow clamp
