The method and apparatus can generate error correcting codes having a good minimum distance characteristic, and which can achieve soft decision decoding and reduce the quantity of calculations for the decoding by using an IFHT decoder. Also, the method and apparatus can perform decoding while improving the error correcting capability of particular bits. |
