A fluid sensor generates a load signal indicative of a load on a fluid actuator. An operator interface device generates a velocity signal indicative of a desired velocity of the actuator. A controller (48) commands a velocity for the actuator in response to the recognition signal, load and velocity signals. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) a method of operating a work machine (B) a work machine comprising a hydraulic control system.
