Zusammenfassung:Silver pigments based on a transparent lamellar substrate of low refractive index comprise a highly refractive titanium dioxide coating with a thickness of 5-300 nm and optionally a protective outer coating. Independent claims are also included for: (1) production of the silver pigments by coating the substrate either by hydrolytic decomposition of metal salts in an aqueous medium or by chemical or physical vapor deposition; (2) pigment preparations comprising a silver pigment as above, a binder and optionally additives; (3) dry preparations, e.g. pellets, granules, chips or briquettes, containing silver pigments as above.
