Various examples of the present disclosure provide a method, an apparatus and a storage medium for sharing information. According to the method, a user to be shared is identified in an address book in an instant messaging (IM) client; an electronic business card is generated by using basic information of the to-be-shared user in the IM system, and is sent to a receiving client. Various examples of the present disclosure also provide a method and an apparatus for receiving shared information. Technical mechanisms of the present disclosure enable IM clients to share buddy information by using IM messages transmitting electronic business cards. In addition, buddy information is presented to a receiving client in the form of an electronic name business card, which is simple and clear thus improves user experience.
