Machine for cleaning and/or treating rectangular blocks of cheese - where cheeses are automatically rotated about horizontal axis while their surfaces are treated by rotating brushes

In a new machine for coating and/or cleaning rectangular cheeses, the flat brush is mounted on a horizontal shaft in the machine frame an adjustable support member acts on the opposite side of the cheese and positions it relative to the brush, and a mechanism located on either side of the cheese rotates it in a vertical plane. The mechanisms each consist of four brush rollers mounted on a frame at equal distances from its centre of rotation. These frames are made up of members which cross each other at right angles and which carry the brush rollers on their outer ends, and the brush rollers are caused to rotate on their axes by a stationary central sun gear which engages planet gears fixed to their support shafts. The frames are rotated synchronously by the mechanisms by means of a gear or chain drive. USE/ADVANTAGE - This invention is used for cleaning or coating rectangular blocks of cheese, and allows the cheese to be quickly and efficiently cleaned or salted without risk of damage to the cheese itself. The machine proposed is also very easy to service and to maintain, and provides an intensive cleaning action on all of the faces and edges of the blocks of cheese being treated.
