Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a method and an appliance for replacing a worn-out vessel in a series of vessels for producing aluminium by means of fusion electrolysis. The appliance has a transport carrier (14) with means for horizontal movement which interact with movement means disposed on the case (1) of the container (2). Furthermore, the appliance has a transport vehicle (25) provided with propulsion means which are oriented in at least two mutually perpendicular directions. The transport carrier (14) comprises two main sectional beams (14A, 14B) and a bottom (16), the two main sectional beams having a plurality of rollers (17) which interact with a roller conveyor (4) which is fastened to the case (1) of the container (2).
