Process for the synthesis of 1-(4-isopropylthiophenyl)-2-(n-octylamino)propanol, of its esters and of its salts

1-(4-Isopropylthiophenyl)-2-(n-octylamino)propanol is prepared by condensation of a compound of a formula II or III with octanal or respectively with formaldehyde and 2-heptanone, followed by a reduction. The aminoalcohol can then be converted to its addition salt by reaction with an acid or be esterified by reaction with an acid or acid derivative. The compounds obtained have activities on the cardiovascular systems, for example, antispasmodic, antihypertensive, peripheral vasodilatory or myocardial anoxia protective activities, as well as platelet aggregation inhibitory, antithrombotic, antilipolytic and antihypercholesterolemic activities.
