Ventilating apparatus for sealed spaces comprises an air lock, the interior of which is at least partly lined with sound damping material (13), the air lock having an opening in which there is arranged a motor driven air fan (2) and also having a screened air discharge aperture. The air discharge aperture is arranged at an upper part of the box column and is provided with an at least partially closable screen (4) (shown as an adjustable louvered screen). The air fan (2) with the driving motor (3) is arranged at a lower part of said box column to communicate with an aperture (8) in the exterior wall.
