Zusammenfassung:In a method of changing the cross sectional format of a strand when continuously casting strands using a plate mould, at least one unitary side wall of which is displaceable relative to an opposite side wall to alter its inclination, the procedure is as follows:- in a first step, the upper rim region (3) of the side wall (1, 2) is displaced to accord with the required, new cross sectional format of the strand (9), the mould is filled by pouring in melt, a solidified strand skin (10) is allowed to form at the displaced side wall (1, 2), in a second displacement step, the lower rim region (4) of the side wall (1, 2) is displaced to accord with the required, new cross sectional format of the strand (9), and casting is then continued.
