Preparation for improving the dressing percentage in livestock and poultry, and process for its preparation

The preparation for improving the dressing percentage contains, as active ingredient, a perchlorate of the formula X(ClO4)n, in which X is an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal or ammonium ion NH4 and n is the number which corresponds to the valency of X, this perchlorate being applied to a carrier. The carriers are disperse porous materials which are inert to the abovementioned substances and acceptable for peroral use, for example silica gel, diatomite, perlite and the like. The preparation can include additions of sodium chlorides and alkaline earth metals. The preparation contains 5 to 50%, preferably 15-35%, of active ingredient based on the ClO4 ion. It is used in livestock management eg. of poultry and furbearing animals.
