Zusammenfassung:	For electrically perforating a web (10) of paper with a high perforation density, the web of paper is moved at a constant speed between two groups of electrodes (RL; FR). Two of the electrodes (RL-1, RL-10; FR-1, FR-10) of the groups in each case are situated with their points opposite one another. While the web of paper is passing between the points of the electrodes, an alternating current is applied to the opposite electrodes and two streams of gas are fed to the points of the electrodes through outlet apertures (34). Appropriate selection of the current amplitude and the flow rate of the stream of gas causes multiple piercing for each half-wave of the alternating current applied. In this way, more than one perforation is produced in the web of paper for each half-wave.
