Zusammenfassung:	The apparatus comprises a reactor (R) having the shape of an oblong prism with square base, inclined at 45` and with two longitudinal opposite edges arranged in a same vertical plane. The liquid which is to ferment is supplied through a conduit (E'), the methane produced is evacuated through a conduit (A'). Conduits (B', C', D') are provided for the evacuation of non-gaseous fermention products, respectively floating light particles, liquid floating on the surface and deposited heavy particles. These various products may be recycled. The fresh material, coming from a pool (F'), is discharged by a pump (G) into the conduit (E'), optionally passing through an homogenizer (I) and a heat exchanger (H). The shape of the reactor and its orientation in the space make it easier for the release of the gas and the separation of the various fractions of non-gaseous products and enhance the fermentation. The liquid floating on the surface collected in the pool (D'') is particularly useful as a fertilizer.
