Planetary wire-feed device, in particular for automatic welding machines

The wire-feed device, which is used in particular in automatic welding machines, has an electric motor (2) with a hollow shaft (6), a body (3) which is rigidly connected to the hollow shaft (6), two feed rollers (4) which are rotatably arranged on pistons (5) displaceably arranged in the body (3) and can be placed against a wire (1) passed through the hollow shaft (6) in order to feed the wire, an actuating member (7) which is operatively connected to the pistons (5) in order to displace the pistons as a function of the actuating member (7), and a device (25, 26) for producing a magnetic field (24) in order to adjust the actuating member (7) relative to the body (3). By excitation of the arrangement, a magnetic field is produced which produces eddy currents in the actuating member (7). The eddy currents brake the actuating member (7) set in rotation by the electric motor (2). In contrast to the manual adjustment of the actuating member, the adjustment can be made continuously and automatically from several locations.
