Zusammenfassung:Inorganic/organic plastics in the form of porous to foam-like mouldings, in particular having densities of 10 to 800 kg/m and compressive strengths of 0.1 to 150 kp/cm are prepared. These mouldings, which may of course also contain fillers and reinforcing materials, can be used for a variety of applications in the construction industry, it being possible for the properties to be matched to requirements in broad limits by simply changing the mixing ratios of the reaction components. The mouldings are obtained by reacting a mixture of (1) from 2 to 95% of aqueous silica sol which preferably contains from 20 to 60% by weight of silica, (2) from 5 to 98% of organic polyisocyanate with the exception of polyisocyanate prepolymers containing nonionic hydrophilic groups, and (3) from 0 to 93% of water-binding aggregates, with pore formation. The percentages are % by weight and relate to the total mixture. Additives such as catalysts, blowing agents, emulsification auxiliaries and other substances which are reactive with NCO groups are possible.
