Zusammenfassung:p-Phenoxy or alkoxy cinnamic acid esters anticholesterolaemics. Preparation of cpds. of the formula (I): (where R = phenyl or 12-18C alkyl; R' = H, CH3 or phenyl; R2 = H or OH; R3 = CH2OH when R2 = OH or R3 = methacryloyloxy, halomethyl, HOCH2-, OH, halo or SO3Me when R2 = H; Me = alkali metal) by reacting (where x = halogen) with HOCH2CHR2'R3 (where R2' = H and R3 = methyacryloxy, halomethyl, halo SO3Me or R2' and R3' forms a gp. -CH2O where is an acetal or ketal residue) to give a cpd. (I) R2 = R2'; R3 = R3') which is hydrolysed where appropriate to (I) which are anticholesterolaemic agents.
