1276993 Reactors BABCOCK & WILCOX CO 14 May 1971 [11 June 1970] 15007/71 Heading G6C In a nuclear reactor monitoring system, temperature and neutron detectors are inserted into the reactor along a passage which extends between the core and an external handling station. The instrumentation assembly, X, is urged along the pressure tight tube, 11, from the station, S, into the reactor core, 12, passing the biological shielding, B, at the bends 13, 14. The monitoring functions are effected by solid state detectors and to provide transfer of the electrical output signals of the detectors the lead wires are connected to an external multi-conductor plug. Individual neutron detectors are spaced so as to sense neutron flux distribution over an axial length range.
