Zusammenfassung:	1,259,081. 1,3 - Propanediol derivatives. TOYO BOSEKI K.K. 16 Jan., 1970 [18 Jan., 1969], No. 2151/70. Heading C2C. 1,3-Propanediol derivatives of the formula wherein R is a (C 1 -C 5 ) alkyl group, unsubstituted or substituted with a halogen atom, or an aryl, hydroxyl, aryloxy or (C 1 -C 5 ) alkoxy group, R1 is a hydrogen atom or, like R11, is a cycloalkyl or (C 1 -C 5 ) alkyl group, or when taken together with R11 and the adjacent N atom, is a saturated heterocyclic group, are prepared by reacting an oxetane of the formula with an amine of the formula in the presence of a phenol. The reaction is preferably carried out in the presence of an alcohol or water at a temperature of from 150 to 230 C. The product may be condensed with a dicarboxylic acid to give a linear polyester.
