The end closure member 13 for a vacuum cleaner dust bag 10 comprises a plate member (e.g. of cardboard) having a plurality of flaps such as 14 biassed to the closed position by resilient strip member such as 31a, 31b. Thus the flaps snap shut when the suction tube S is removed. As described, the resilient member may be a slitted rubber band 31. The plate member may comprise two cardboard layers 15, 16 sandwiching the resilient member. A production line for assembling the device is described. Figs. 20, 21 (not shown).
