[Also in Division C2] Agents for combating harmful bacteria comprise furan-2 5-dicarboxylic acid diamides of the general formula: wherein R is the residue of an aminobenzene bound with the carbonyl group through the N-atom, which residue carries on the benzene nucleus at least one further substituent in the form of a halogen atom or trifluoromethyl group, and in the Examples are used to impregnate cotton cloth, are incorporated into antibacterial soap and also into PVC foil.
