Zusammenfassung: | 1,033,420. Liquid development of electrostatic images. GEVAERT PHOTO-PRODUCTEN N.V. Nov 26, 1962 [Nov 27, 1961], No. 44695/62. Heading G2H. A record process, especially for document copying comprises subjecting a material including a photo-conductive layer which is not pre-charged electrostatically to a pattern of radiation, e.g. visible light, and simultaneously or subsequently to traversal by an electric field in which a supply of liquid is held just out of contact with the material by a carrier member so that liquid is selectively or differentially attracted from the carrier member and deposited to form a liquid pattern according to the radiation pattern. As described the carrier member is a roller having capillary recesses or grooves in its surface and the invention comprises a modification of that of Specification 1,020,505 in which the electrostatic charge pattern is formed by the electric field traversing the radiationinduced conductivity pattern. The photo-conductive material and developing liquid are the same as in Specification 1,033,419, and the apparatus differs from the apparatus of that Specification only in the applicator rollers being provided with capillary liquid-holding elements and arranged so that the developer liquid is out of contact with the exposed material in areas where no charge is induced by the applied field. |
